Hiroshima
広島, Hirosima (Hiroshima), JapanI was stunned by how modern and developed Hiroshima has become after the atomic bombing. A beautiful city with gorgeous shopping malls and scenery. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t that great due to an upcoming typhoon but luckily I did manage to visit the atomic bombing sites, Hiroshima castle and the Yamato Museum.
It was an emotional and difficult process observing the atomic bomb dome and the atomic bomb museum. What happened on that day is absolutely disastrous and should hopefully remind countries never to participate into a nuclear war because the results are devastating. Horrible expositions and graphics were viewable at the museum. People with literally skin dripping off their bones while trying to cool down in the rivers, which were all vaporized by the blast. The museum made a true impression on me and I wouldn’t want to wish the effects of an atomic blast on anybody. It's horrible.
After visiting the peace memorial park and museum I head for Hiroshima’s Castle but unfortunately it was already closed upon arrival. I encountered hundreds of elementary students who seemed to be curious as to where I was from. The underground shopping malls and food courts are all so modern no matter where you go in Japan, as with everything here, they take pride in the smallest details which I highly admire. I had to cut my Hiroshima trip short due to the weather and bound for Fukuoka (Hakata). I heard the sushi is outstanding there thus I had to try it out instead of traveling straight to Nagasaki.
