Hoorn is buzzing! This historic city with its unique waterside location is a living monument. Over the years Hoorn has retained its international character. Hoorn’s almost 70,000 inhabitants, representing around 80 different nationalities, live in the old city centre and the districts built around it. In Hoorn, young and old coexist happily. This goes for both the people and the buildings.

A wonderful day of shopping and visiting the cheesemarket in Alkmaar, Netherlands with my sister Leontien. We went on a early Friday morning in order to witness the cheesemarket events on the main square of Alkmaar. Cheese was buying weighted and sold while explained and announced by a presenter in English to entertain the tourists.

Fabulous Amsterdam, during my time in Holland I didn't have any concrete plans to go downtown Amsterdam since I know the city on the back of my hand. Everything changed once I got word of my friends that were in Croatia at the time and wanted to come by the city and explore. They jumped on a plane and we met up in central Amsterdam. We had a blast at the local coffee shops. I was surprised they hadn't even tried the deep fried snacks yet although they have been here a few times already. That is definitely a tip for everybody. "eat them Dutch deep fried snacks from the wall".

Enjoying some good times with my family in the Netherlands. I went for dinner with my Grandma at the 'kop van de haven' which is a delicious high-quality fish restaurant in IJmuiden. I also went for dinner at my Uncle's place in Gelderland which is an 2 hour drive in the middle of the country. Some coffee at my ant's place. A movie called 'earth' at the 'Witte Theater'. Shopping at the Vomar supermarket. Hutspot with sausage made by my dad. And some Wok-For-You, all you can eat Chinese food, which sadly wasn't the greatest Chinese food I had.
