Home Cooking With Ironchef Matt: Japanese & Indonesian Cuisines

The last couple of weeks I cooked up a storm featuring Japanese meals: katsukare, sushi, unagi and Indonesian meals: bami goreng and nasi goreng. Unfortunately it can be hard sometimes to find the right ingredients in Toronto.

Today we will be making some more home made Sushi with a few new ingredients. We will try to exchange the seaweed for an egg wrap since my roommate is not too hot on seaweed in general.

The next day I will try to prepare some more Indonesian food like bami goreng and nasi goreng with some delicious peanutsaus and kroekoep (shrimp chips).

I went to St. Lawrence market to purchase the fresh Salmon and Tuna for the Maki rolls. Also some Unagi (bbq eel) was added to the mix. To really top off this feasting weekend I ended with some Japanese Katsukare which is deep fried pork with rice and Japanese curry sauce (which is thick and delicious).
