Places
1. Crystal World
A giant room filled with LEDs lights hanging down from the tall ceiling and surrounded by mirrors. Wait for the rain!
2. Forest of Lamps
Most popular art installation at Borderless, located on the second floor at the back on the museum.
3. Light Vortex
Perhaps the coolest room in the museum for its cool light show synchronized to music.
4. Universe of Water Particles
Room with the most descriptive name at Borderless, touch the Chinese characters on the walls for a little treat.
5. Black Waves
The most relaxing room at Borderless, lay down on giant beanbags while you take a little break by being mesmerized by the waves surrounding you.
6. Infinite Transparency
The most hidden room at Borderless, very hard to find, located in the far back behind a curtain where a ton of samurai and bunny holograms perform a Bon Odori dance.
7. Floating Nest
Most popular room with tourists in which you lay down in a giant nest while are surrounded by an interactive light journey. Lineups can be over 30 minutes, come early!
8. Sketch Aquarium
Located on the 3rd floor at the end of the Atheletic Forest, draw a sea creature and scan it to see it appear on the wall.
9. Musical Wall
Next to the Sketch Aquarium you can build your own tiny town for little people projections.
10. En Tea House
At the entrance of Athletic Forest you can enjoy a warm cup of tea in a very dark room while it blossoms all over you. Try the Yuzu tea!
The brainchild of teamLab, a visionary art collective made up of artists, engineers, CG animators and more, the wildly Instragrammable digital wonderland lives up to its 'borderless' name.
There isn't a map to guide you through this museum which makes for a fun adventure but the downside is you may miss a few hidden rooms, namely the Black Waves and Infinite Transparency since they are hidden behind curtains. Luckily, I tried to create a map with Google Maps listed above with the GPS coordinates for each room, hopefully that helps you find the hidden areas.
The museum is highly interactive and ever evolving, as your presence imprints on the digital space around you. Do not be shy to touch away, magical things may happen making each visit to the museum unique.
The museum is separated into five spaces covering two floors: Borderless World, Athletic Forest, Future Park, Forest of Lamps, and En Tea House.
Tickets are often sold out, so do not wait around too long and reserve today for teamLab Tokyo tickets $22 USD per person.
