Oslo is a small town with only 650,000 inhabitants you'd think there isn't much to do in Oslo. Well, you may be pleasantly surprised. Oslo has a lot of great bars & night clubs to offer but the only downside; Oslo is VERY expensive and venues close at 3:00am but that shouldn't prevent you from having an amazing time.
Places
1. Bla
Great hipster bar with outdoor patio located in Grunerlokka.
2. Bortenfor
Cozy bar with unique atmosphere and large patio facing the Akerselva river.
3. Cafe Sara
Laid back bar and restaurant with a local crowd.
4. Magic Ice Bar
Try the ice cold bar Magic and drink ice wine while browsing the ice sculptures.
5. Uhort
Hipster bar and patio located within the Stroget nightclub plaza.
6. Angst
Next to Uhort, another hipster bar but with a better looking crowd.
7. Den Gamle Skobutikken
Across from Angst you can grab another cocktail and climb to the rooftop patio.
8. Karusell
Last bar in the Stroget nightclub plaza with cool swinging couches.
9. Jaeger
Perhaps the best nightclub in Oslo, Jaeger is guaranteed a good time with good music and awesome locals.
10. Stratos
Upscale nightclub on the rooftop of the Stratos building often with amazing EDM and a hot crowd.
11. Kulturhuset
The best bar in Oslo, maybe even Europe. This complex encompasses a ton of tiny bars on multiple floors.
12. Lawo
Upscale outdoor patio with a classy crowd, high rollers and expensive drinks.
13. Nox Sollihagen
Solid place for EDM and fist pumping, you cannot go wrong with a crazy night at NOX.
14. The Villa
Techno and house lovers will have a blast at The Villa, another unique venue.
15. Crowbar and Brewery
End your night with a pork knuckle sandwich from the Crowbar, freshly braised.
I recommend you start your evening in the Grünerløkka hipster district, this renovated district has quite a few great places to grab a few drinks like Blå & Bortenfor easily located right next to each other. Blå is often considered the best place to be on a Sunday.
In the downtown core of Oslo there is a bar alley way called Strøget which houses a conglomerate of bars namely; Uhørt, Angst, Den Gamle Stobutikken and Karusell all great for socializing and a few beers.
My favorite venue in Oslo is Kulturhuset, a massive social complex with ping-pong tables, fussball, multiple stories of bars and multiple dance floors. I met so many incredible locals at this place that I always ended my nights at this place. A must visit in Oslo!
Oslo Nightlife: Nox/Sollihagen
For some good ol' fist pumpin' and beats head over to NOX/Sollihagen for a young Norwegian crowd or Stratos for an upscale EDM rooftop party with incredible views of Oslo. Alternatively, there is the Lawo lounge where you can mingle with the high rollers and upscale peeps of Oslo. Make sure to try the true Norwegian shots: Akvavit or Aquavit, this extremely strong liquor will have you question your new found Norwegian friends.
If you are an electro head or techno head there is a great club called The Villa, this place often featured world famous techno DJ's. End your night with an epic pork knuckle wrap from the Crowbar & Brewery on the Torggata street where you will also find Cafe Sara. In conclusion, Oslo is a small, expensive but amazing city for a few days of sightseeing and making new Norwegian friends. In conclusion, Oslo has a great nightlife scene but getting around town can be quite expensive, that's why I recommend you purchase the official OSLO PASS for just $50 USD which will save you a ton of money on attractions and transportation.
